New Delhi: BP on Tuesday announced the appointment of Kate Thomson as its interim chief financial officer, a week after Murray Auchincloss was named the company’s interim chief executive officer.

Thomson, who is currently BP’s senior vice president of finance for production & operations, will now take over the responsibilities of the interim CFO. She has been a part of the BP organization for 19 years, serving in various senior financial roles, including that of group treasurer and head of group tax.

“Kate’s experience and skills make her ideally suited to take on the role of interim CFO. She brings deep technical knowledge together with a detailed understanding of BP, and has a first-class track record of leadership across our finance function. I look forward to working alongside her as we continue to deliver BP’s strategy,” said Murray Auchincloss, interim chief executive officer of BP.

Prior to joining BP in 2004, Thomson had served in professional service firms, including a role with Ernst & Young in M&A tax, and as group head of tax for Charter plc. She has also been on the board of Aker BP for the past seven years and serves on the boards of several BP Group companies. Thomson is a qualified chartered accountant.
